Creator's Note

My main motive behind creating Resurgence.mp4 was to showcase the journey that led me to figure out my passion and realize my purpose in life. The story of how being so close to death transformed my life in ways that I could never have imagined, how it made me realize that if I don't act on my pursuing my passion right now, someday I'll most certainly be too late to.

The opening sequence of this film is a memoir of the struggles that we face when we are forced to pursue a career we are not passionate about. The scene is inspired by a similar event that had happened to me during my sophomore year of engineering. I wanted to keep it as authentic as possible and really enhance the feelings of stress, frustration, anger, and helplessness that one goes through when faced with a similar situation.

Creating this project, there were several personal learnings. Looking back at the entire narrative as a whole, I was able to connect the dots. From being rejected from my college's Hindi Literary Society to staring right into the face of death, I saw the events that in some unique way led me to be at the place where I'm at today. This heightened my appreciation of life and gave me deeper understandings and new perspectives on it.

On the technical front, this film was one of the first experiences I’d had while intensively directing a crew of cinematographers, whom I hired for helping me shoot the scenes at the train station and at the airport. The collaborative and creative environment we were able to create in our meetings as well as on set enhanced my leadership skills. I witnessed the power of strong teamwork and smooth communication of ideas, which helped me become an overall better filmmaker and a storyteller.
